What is 0/1-10V Dimming to LED?
Jan 10,2025 reddy
0/1-10V dimming, also known as 0-10V dimming or 1-10V dimming, is a technology that controls the average current flowing through the LED by inputting an analog signal of 0 to 10V (according to the 0-10V voltage amplitude) to achieve dimming. The following is a detailed explanation of the 0/1-10V dimming principle:
Dimming Principle
The power supply design of the 0/1-10V dimming system is equipped with a control chip. When a 0-10V or 1-10V dimmer is connected, the output current of the power supply can be changed by adjusting the voltage change of 0/1-10V. Specifically:
When the 0-10V dimmer is modulated to a maximum of 10V, the output current will reach 100% of the power supply output, and the lamp will output at full brightness.
When the 0-10V dimmer is modulated to 0V, the current drops to 0, and the lamp turns off the output, that is, the light is off.
For 1-10V dimming, the working principle is similar, but the voltage thresholds for turning on and off are different. 1-10V dimming starts at 0.7~0.8V, and turns off the lamp output when the signal is lower than 0.6V. It is worth noting that 1-10V dimming does not have the function of completely turning off the lamp.
Dimming Power Supply Type
0/1-10V dimming power supply is usually divided into two types: constant current and constant voltage:
Constant current 0-10V dimming power supply: multi-level current, wide voltage input, high efficiency, smooth dimming curve without flicker. Mainly used for dimming of LED constant current spotlights, downlights, panel lights and other lamps.
Constant voltage 0-10V dimming power supply: set short circuit, overload, overvoltage and other protection functions, support customized dimming curve, improve dimming effect. Mainly used for brightness adjustment of LED lamps such as light strips, light bars, MR16, etc.
Dimming Control Implementation Method
0/1-10V dimming is usually achieved by controlling the PWM waveform. The PWM (pulse width modulation) dimming principle requires that the frequency of the PWM signal is greater than 500Hz and the amplitude is greater than 10V. The brightness of the LED can be changed by changing the pulse width. However, in the 0/1-10V dimming system, PWM dimming is more of a technical means to achieve dimming control rather than directly as a dimming signal input.
Application of Dimming Technology
0/1-10V dimming technology has been widely used in many fields due to its high precision, high stability and easy integration. For example, in commercial lighting, the 0/1-10V dimming system can be used to achieve intelligent scene control, improve lighting effects and customer experience; in smart homes, the brightness of the lights can be remotely controlled through terminals such as mobile phone APP or smart voice assistants to achieve more personalized lighting needs.
To sum up, 0/1-10V dimming technology changes the power supply output current by adjusting the voltage change, thereby achieving precise control of the brightness of the lighting equipment. With the continuous development of intelligent lighting technology, 0/1-10V dimming technology will play an important role in more fields.
